Baileys Almande

LCBO#: 455428
Price: $31.95
Made in: Illinois, USA
By: R & A Bailey & Co Ltd

This version of Baileys is made in the United States. It is also dairy free. The first thing we noticed was that even recommended for coffee, it did not seem to blend well with all the coffees we tried. Mild chunks – if you know what I mean. Made with almond oil, and not from almond milk. Vodka is the alcohol used in this one. The nose is quite nutty with the mild vanilla aromas. The taste has the cherry notes at first found in most Irish Cream, with the almonds lingering on the tongue. It is a nice sipper, but not one we would mix with our coffee Sunday mornings – like we do religiously.

Baileys Pumpkin Spice

LCBO#: 519272
Price: $29.95
Made in: Ireland, United Kingdom
By: R & A Bailey & Co Ltd

This limited edition Pumpkin Spice Baileys Irish Cream is a first here for Autumn 2017. We love things that are pumpkin and spices. Things that reminds us of Halloween. The base has the nice, smooth and creamy butterscotch notes in mouth and nose. The spices are what is different here. The aromas give out a tad of a nod to the eggnog that will come after this release is gone. The spices are a little more present in the taste, warming things with the alcohol. You can almost taste pumpkin purée, even though there is none. Great in coffee. Hope they release this every year.

Marquis de Méricourt Dry White Wine

IGA#: N/A
Also found in Metro stores in QC.
Price: $10.49
Made in: Canada
By: Marquis de Méricourt

A cheap white blended Canadian wine found at the local IGA store. Big 1 litre bottle. The smell is not bad at all. Fruity with the grapes and mixed with apples. The taste has the fruitiness as well and seems not bad at that point. Then, the watery finish comes too soon. Some dryness, and is actually not bad with food (see pic – enjoyed with equivalent quality).

Viticcio Chianti Classico

Purchased in Italy (so no local product number)
Made in: Chianti Classico, Italy
By: Viticcio
Year: 2014

This Italian red wine was brought back from Italy by a family member. Some nice cherry sweetness blends over the grapes and light plums. The taste is pretty mild though with a nice dryness. Nothing really exciting in the mouth, but a good mouthfeel – secco, arso, asciutto.

Raven Wicked White

LCBO#: 438077
Price: $15.00
SAQ#: 13299179
Prix: 16.45$
Made in: Ontario, Canada
By: Andrew Peller Limited
Year: 2015

A blended white wine from Ontario, Canada that has a beautiful nose of floral notes like Sauvignon Blanc and hints of yellow apples. The flavours are quite fruity with some nice sweetness, but not syrupy. Not too dry as well, but not a boring wetness either. Light sourness shows up, giving this white wine a refreshing aspect on this heat waved autumn.

Cupcake Black Forest

LCBO#: 470088
Price: $14.95
Made in: Livermore, California, US
By: Cupcake Vineyards
Year: 2014

This blended red wine from California starts off with a nice rich aroma of cherries, blackberries among other darker fruits. The label has some class, but a little too busy, and too many different fonts. We keep on going down from there, but not so low. Some good sweetness from the fruits, but the finish is quick and not like written on back label – “long and complex”. Decent dryness but wish the finish was more. Too bad, as was looking good at first.

Apothic Inferno

LCBO#: 485623
Price: $17.95
Made in: California, US
By: E. & J. Gallo Winery

The latest twist in the Apothic wines is being aged in whiskey barrels for 60 days. The aromas are quite sweet because of this. Full red grapes, some leather, syrups and a little burnt wood. The taste is pretty watery with grapes and cherries. The middle is quite mild, with some light maple notes in the finish. Some dryness, bitterness gets stronger in the mouthfeel helping a bit. Still, not as good as the Apothic Dark. Looks like this one was quite limited, as cannot find on LCBO site a few months after reviewing.
