RumChata Cream Liqueur

LCBO#: 380865
Price: $31.00
Made in: USA
By: Agave Loco Brands
ABV: 13.7%

An American Cream Liqueur made from Caribbean rum and real dairy cream. For those who like spices, this cream liqueur is for you. Cinnamon, light nutmeg, all-spices, all-blended by vanilla. Even pumpkin puree is felt, even though there is none. It does still make a nice spiced cream liqueur for this month of Halloween. Spices up the creaminess in coffee, which makes a big change from Baileys. On its own, it is sweet, but not too crazy syrupy. More creamy and not sticky on the tongue. Yes, this rum-based cream liqueur is quite good. We have bought several bottle since our first try. Highly recommended.

Baileys Strawberries & Cream

LCBO#: 551598
Price: $30.95
Made in: Ireland
By: R & A Bailey & Co Ltd

A new limited edition of Baileys – Strawberries & Cream. As we like our Baileys cream in our coffee, this one is no exception if you do like the creamy strawberry stuff. Aromas are exactly what you expect with the strawberry notes, the creaminess and light alcohol. The taste is much of the same with a nice berry fruitiness over the sweetness, balanced by the cream. Very good on its own, or in your morning warm beverage. Comes with a recipe to do a colada with coconut rum or vodka. This one is much better than the salted caramel version they did not long ago.

Château Lamartine Cahors Cuvée Particulère 2014

LCBO#: 441238
Price: $23.25
Made in: France
By: SCEA Chateau Lamartine
Year: 2014

A French red wine which is blended from 90% Malbec and 10% Tannat, enjoyed in Sudbury, Ontario. Dry spicy nose with lots of the Malbec giving red grapes notes, hints of molasses, and a tad of leather. Flavours start on the fruity side with some sweetness, then giving some dryness in the middle to have a touch of sourness. The finish is pretty short as tannins are quite light, but do get better and better. Mild dark fruits are well balanced in here. Very nice!

Bouvet Crémant de Loire Excellence Brut

LCBO#: 303636
Price: $19.95
Made in: Loire, France
By: Bouvet-Ladubay

This Crémant de Loire is pretty much all apple notes for scent with hints of grape sourness and leather. The taste is also fruity with the apples and grapes. Nicely blended between the sweetness, mild sourness and light dryness. All well-balanced, but nothing crazy outstanding for this French bubbly. There are better Crémant out there for the under twenty dollars range.

Krone Borealis Vintage Cuvée Brut

LCBO#: 556654
Price: $18.95
Made in: Tulbagh, South Africa
By: Twee Jonge Gezellen
Year: 2016

This South African bubbly gives out freshly crushed apple aromas and hints of honey. After breathing, raisin notes come out with hints of brown sugar and yeast. The dried raisins really show in the taste, over the apple notes. The yeast is well-hidden, and the mouthfeel a little dry, a slight wet. Does not linger too, too long. Nothing offensive, but if you are not into the raisin butter tarts, you might not like this one. If you are into something different, this is for you.

Astoria Prosecco DOC

LCBO#: 593855
Price: $15.35
Made in: Italy
By: Astoria Vini

This Italian Prosecco comes in a dark green bottle with lots of gold. The opening on the bottle is quite thick in glass, harder for pouring. Aromas of grapes and apples, mild in fruitiness. The taste has some nice sweetness with apples again, hints of sourness and a crisp mouthfeel. Nothing too special, but goes down nicely if you like something milder.

Segura Viudas Brut Reserva

LCBO#: 216960
Price: $15.75
Made in: Spain
By: Heredad Segura Viudas

A Spanish bubbly with a classy looking green bottle. The first thing you see at first pour is the head seems bigger than most. After it calms down, you can see that the bubbles are bigger size, more like beer carbonation than a sparkling. This does calm down as well and smaller bubbles finally appear. Apple nose with hints of cucumber juice. Flavours are on the sour side, with the apples still present as a base. Very light yeast does linger after all of this. Fairly dry mouthfeel and becomes nice all-around, as the sourness balances itself out.
