Beringer Founders’ Estate Cabernet Sauvignon

LCBO#: 534263
Price: $18.05
Made in: California, USA
By: Beringer Vineyards
Year: 2015

A Californian Cabernet Sauvignon with sweet aromas of blackberries, plum, sugars and hints of vanilla. The flavours are on the sweet side as well, but not syrupy. More on the wet side with not much of a finish. With food though, the dryness comes out. Even some tannins. Nice cherries as well. Not bad for those who prefer the sweeter red wines that are easy to drink. Missing some punchiness for a Cabernet Sauvignon. And the tobacco and leather.

Purchased for the label and subject title at Total Wine in Vegas. Mild aromas at first but they seems to get stronger with time. Wet mouthfeel with not much tannins. Light cherry taste with blackberries. Nothing bad, but a little too watered-down overall.

This Cabernet Sauvignon is vinted and bottled by Beringer. Sold at a Coop in Montpelier, VT. Smells decent with mild Cab Sauvignon notes, more on the berry side of things. The big problem is when you taste it. Way too sweet. The wet mouthfeel does not help either. Looks like the chart on the back label says this wine should be on the dry side, more than the sweet one. Nope. Not dry at all. No tannins found here. Nothing really off, just too damn sweet.

Mumm Napa Rosé

Written on the cork – FO 080511. Méthode Traditionnelle, produced from handpicked Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grapes. Peach-like colours with a very mild nose with balanced yeast, fruits (peach, strawberries) and hints of maple syrup (which was mostly felt when the cork came off). More on the dry side than sweet, but still overall wet and refreshing. Taste a little more than the aromas. Close to the same – fruity with some light peach at first, and the strawberries come and blend both. All with a bit of yeast and maybe very light vanilla notes. Was expecting a little more bite, but overall easy-drinking, mild and interesting for all. Just not the price.

Beautiful aromas of cherries, raspberries and hints of molasses, tobacco and wood in the background. Unfortunately, that is where it stops. The taste is standard, mild with the red grape juices. Almost watery. Then, the aftertaste that lingers is like the wine was stored in a rusty metal pipe, instead of a barrel. The grapes are alright, but overall, not one we would have again.
