Stellina Di Notte Prosecco DOC

LCBO#: 485359
Price: $15.95
Made in: Veneto, Italy
By: V.N.P. Valsa Nuovo Perlino SPA

Classy sparkling bottle with simplistic label. This Italian Bubbly has loads of green apples with the grapes and hints of pears, bubblegum. Fruity flavours from the grapes and apples, but not to sweet. Mild dryness with yeast in the finish, lingering. Nutty notes because of this. First sip showed lots of yeast, but gets better as it goes. Not bad at all, but some better out there for the price.

Villa Sandi Prosecco

LCBO#: 194191
Price: $9.45
Made in: Italy
By: Villa Sandi SPA

This Italian Prosecco has mild fruity aromas with grapes, apples and pears. The taste is also fruity with more of the apples, but the finish is short. Nutty yeast lingers. A decent dryness gets better with time. Quite easy to drink this one with no big faults. Just a tad mild all-around. Some light sweetness, sourness. Really good for the price, as an entry level bubbly.

Zonin Prosecco Cuvée 1821 Brut

LCBO#: 277186
Price: $14.95
Made in: Italy
By: Casa Vinicola Zonin SPA

Fresh mild apple aromas that are not too sweet, nor too sour, with light sugars or sweet yeast balancing things. The same for flavours, mild apples with a short finish. A little dryness, and not syrupy at all. Very easy to drink as pretty refreshing, with hints of citrus. Nothing special other than that, but nice for bubbly starters.

Bottega Vino dei Poeti Rosé Brut

LCBO#: 277202
Price: $14.95
Made in: Italy
By: Bottega SPA

An inexpensive Italian Bubbly that is very light pink in colour. The aromas are sweet with some citrus notes. Kind of like Sprite or 7up, but with hints of strawberries. The taste is not as sweet as expected, with some sourness at first with a dry middle and some mild strawberry in the finish. Alcohol is felt as well. Mild yeast lingers on the tongue with some light tart and nuts. Decent overall for the price.

Val d’Oca Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Brut

LCBO#: 340570
Price: $17.50
Made in: Veneto, Italy
By: Cantina Sociale Valdobbiadene
Year: 2015

This Italian Sparkling wine is always a good one to get at the LCBO. Brunello Imports makes it easy to get this in Ontario. Aromas are sweet and fruity with apples and hints of pears. Thankfully, the taste is not as sweet. Just fruitiness with some decent dryness. Yeast lingers on the tongue. This bubbly is nothing too crazy, too out of this world… but very well-balanced overall.

Mionetto Il Prosecco

Price: $13.95

Pretty surprised that this bottle had no cork. Only a beer bottle cap. Was expecting an explosion and then, a huge overflow. But no. Nothing. Had time to take the cap off slowly that was attached by a sticker strip. Once poured, looked like a regular sparkling with a bubbly head. The nose gets stronger as it warms up, showing some sharp dry grapes with hints of sweetness, even honey. Dry mouthfeel, but nicely balanced. The taste is lighter than what the scent gives out. Still, good citrus, apples with mild sourness and some sweetness. The yeast is almost hidden. Quite surprise at this one. Especially for the the price and being from Italy.

Cinzano Prosecco

Don’t mind Cinzano drinks, so interesting to find this Sparkling by this company. At first pour, some sourness comes out in the nose and taste with lots of citrus notes. With time, some sweetness does come out to balance things. Nice decent dryness in the mouthfeel with very mild yeast lingering in the aftertaste. Nothing special, but some nice fruitiness that makes this easy-going bubbly a local find that is alright to have from time to time, when nothing else is found.
