Quinta Da Aveleda Vinho Verde

Price: $11.60

A Portuguese white wine with a fresh fruity nose that reminds me of Sauvignon Blanc. Sweet grapes aromas with hints of sourness. The sour notes are quite present in the flavours, over the fruitiness. Some nice mild dryness in the finish. Light yeast lingers giving out very mild nuttiness. Refreshing and pretty good overall.

Classy sparkling bottle with simplistic label. This Italian Bubbly has loads of green apples with the grapes and hints of pears, bubblegum. Fruity flavours from the grapes and apples, but not to sweet. Mild dryness with yeast in the finish, lingering. Nutty notes because of this. First sip showed lots of yeast, but gets better as it goes. Not bad at all, but some better out there for the price.

Villa Sandi Prosecco

Price: $9.45

This Italian Prosecco has mild fruity aromas with grapes, apples and pears. The taste is also fruity with more of the apples, but the finish is short. Nutty yeast lingers. A decent dryness gets better with time. Quite easy to drink this one with no big faults. Just a tad mild all-around. Some light sweetness, sourness. Really good for the price, as an entry level bubbly.

Pretty surprised that this bottle had no cork. Only a beer bottle cap. Was expecting an explosion and then, a huge overflow. But no. Nothing. Had time to take the cap off slowly that was attached by a sticker strip. Once poured, looked like a regular sparkling with a bubbly head. The nose gets stronger as it warms up, showing some sharp dry grapes with hints of sweetness, even honey. Dry mouthfeel, but nicely balanced. The taste is lighter than what the scent gives out. Still, good citrus, apples with mild sourness and some sweetness. The yeast is almost hidden. Quite surprise at this one. Especially for the the price and being from Italy.

Wow ! This Italian sparkling is quite the treat !! The yeast is not as strong as most bubbly, so well-hidden. This shows the fruits better. Beautiful aromas of pears over apples, giving some nice sweetness from the grapes. The taste starts off sweet, but not syrupy, and because of the dryness, the mouthfeel is great. Notes of sourness. Hints of vanilla a little everywhere. Superbowl Sunday… hence the football caps in the pic (ok, wrong team, but someday). This is a fantastic bubbly that is totally awesome for the price. Would have this any time.

Varietal: Sparkling White

This affordable Italian sparkling has a full nose with grapes, lemon zest, yeast, notes of pears and some sweetness found in cheaper bubbly. A nice creamy white coating tops the wine. Unfortunately, the taste does not live up to this. At first. Sourness, grapes and a quick finish with very light yeast and tart lingering. Really boring, really. After just a bit, some more citrus flavours come out, but still not enough to save this one. At least nothing offensive.
