This Crémant de Loire is pretty much all apple notes for scent with hints of grape sourness and leather. The taste is also fruity with the apples and grapes. Nicely blended between the sweetness, mild sourness and light dryness. All well-balanced, but nothing crazy outstanding for this French bubbly. There are better Crémant out there for the under twenty dollars range.

This French Sparkling releases mild aromas of apples, grapes with hints of vanilla. Pretty close to the same for the flavours. Dry mouthfeel, pretty crisp. Not crazy in taste, but some citrus creating some light sourness, with some very slight yeast in the finish. This Crémant d’Alsace is quite easy to enjoy. Dry all around, mildly fruity and a great alternative to the real Champagne. Especially for the price.

A French Sparkling imported in Canada by The Case for Wine. Loads of apples in the aromas. After breathing a while, notes of honey (and maybe sugars) in the nose. The apples are also very present in the taste with some hints of wood, sourness and dryness. Very mild yeast lingers on the tongue. There is a slight metallic note in the flavours which is the only little offensive part. For some, might be a sharp bitterness. Other than that, pretty decent overall.

This Crémant d’Alsace has a nicely balanced nose of the yeast with the fruity hint of strawberries and very light cherries, creating some sourness. A decent dry mouthfeel with a little tart from the yeast. The taste is mild but filled with all found in the aromas and a touch of alcohol. A little yeast lingers afterward. It is easy access, but the yeast is just a tad too much over the light fruit. If this is your thing, go right ahead.

Note: notice in the picture the silver medal just won by Canada in snowboard cross. Congrats Dominique Maltais. This sparkling had also won silver (showing on label).

Nice classy label with a big white dot, written gold medal Paris 2012. In small writing, says something about the agricultural ministry, so has nothing to do with wines. Starts with aromas of yeast, sourness and grape sweetness. The sourness gets stronger with time, resulting in a vinegar note (apple-cider vinegar). The taste is quite mild. Eventually, hints of regular hand-picked apples come out, but the sourness is a little stronger over it. Does get a little better as it breathes, but a gold medal ? As a sparkling ?? I don’t think so.
