Tawse Spark Limestone Ridge Organic Sparkling Riesling

LCBO#: 370361
Price: $20.95
Made in: Tawse Winery
By: Ontario, Canada
Year: 2016

This Ontarian sparkling gives out apple aromas with pear hints and lime. This last one maybe is the culprit for making the taste quite sour. This gives the mouthfeel a refreshing and crisp feel. A nice blend from the grapes giving apple notes. Light yeast lingers on the tongue. A special sour sparkling, but a nice all-around one. And the more and more I have this one, the more and more I am falling in love with it. So good !! Must put this on the list to visit when we go down visiting the Niagara region.

Chantilly French Cream

LCBO#: 424044
Price: $30.05
Made in: Ontario, Canada
By: Maverick Distillery Limited

Comes in a beautiful, very classy black bottle with everything that says – French (just like it is written French Cream). The only thing, this is made right here in Ontario. Very nicely done as the typical butterscotch notes are present, with the hints of cherries and almonds. Light alcohol shows, but not too excessive. Same in the taste but the chocolate shows up here. Smooth, silky mouthfeel with some nice nuttiness. Everything here is well-done, except the price usually represents imports. Maybe because the sugars are organic. Still, not sure what alcohol they use in this one. Will retry though.

North of 7 Leatherback Rum Special Reserve

LCBO#: Only sold at North of 7 distillery
Price: $54.95
Made in: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
By: North of 7 Distillery

This local rum is batch #13 and from barrel 22. We purchased this on our first visit at the distillery. This barrel strength rum is at 57% abv. Looks like a syrupy amber colour. You can smell the molasses, but more of the charred barrel and some nice fruitiness. Apricots, raisins, apples with a warming alcohol and caramel notes. The mouthfeel is quite warming because of the high alcohol content. The flavours have less of the charcoal hints, more like a nice rum but with a killer long bite from the alcohol. Quite intense to have a lot, but a great winter warmer.

Madison Park Breakfast Gin

SAQ#: 13535864
Price: $48.25
Made in: Quebec, Canada
By: 1769 Distillery

A new gin from Montreal, Quebec with bergamot and infused in the end with a blend of teas to give it its amber colour. If you are an Earl Grey tea drinker like me, you will love the smell with bergamot, lemon notes like lemongrass. The taste has these touches of this tea, but smoother. A little warming, but not too intense. This is quite a different gin that is real interesting… and very worth trying.

Wayne Gretzky Canadian Cream Liquor

LCBO#: 519298
Price: $34.95
Made in: Ontario, Canada
By: Andrew Peller Limited

A Canadian version of the famous Baileys Irish Cream, from hockey’s greatest – Wayne Gretzky. Same tanned cream colour. The aromas show more cherries with nutty notes and hints of cocoa. The flavours are a blend of these – reminding me of amaretto. This one is excellent in coffee, as it is straight up. It is a little more than Baileys, which means way more than Carolans… but definitely worth trying. Will have again for sure. Basically, this is now our go-to Irish cream with coffee, as made here with fresh cream, but also very well-balanced all-around with the cherry notes added.

Marquis de Méricourt Dry White Wine

IGA#: N/A
Also found in Metro stores in QC.
Price: $10.49
Made in: Canada
By: Marquis de Méricourt

A cheap white blended Canadian wine found at the local IGA store. Big 1 litre bottle. The smell is not bad at all. Fruity with the grapes and mixed with apples. The taste has the fruitiness as well and seems not bad at that point. Then, the watery finish comes too soon. Some dryness, and is actually not bad with food (see pic – enjoyed with equivalent quality).

Prix: 16.45$
Made in: Ontario, Canada

A blended white wine from Ontario, Canada that has a beautiful nose of floral notes like Sauvignon Blanc and hints of yellow apples. The flavours are quite fruity with some nice sweetness, but not syrupy. Not too dry as well, but not a boring wetness either. Light sourness shows up, giving this white wine a refreshing aspect on this heat waved autumn.
