Baden Gewürztraminer 2011

badenLCBO#: 336735
Price: $10.95
Made in: Baden, Germany
By: Vina Badischer Winzerkeller
Varietal: Gewurztraminer

Sweet fruity nose with alcohol dryness. After breathing, notes of pears come out. The taste is sweet, but not too syrupy. Seems like this wine has lots of tiny bubbles all around the glass (so lots of air). Mild sourness blending things and the alcohol also shows in the finish (again creating some light dryness). Ugly label, but decent easy-drinking Gewürztraminer with lots of character when sipping. For those who prefer them sweeter than dry.

Golden colour with a pear nose and alcohol. Nicely balanced between a wet and dry mouthfeel. Refreshing sweet fruity taste with a little sourness and mild yeast lingering into the aftertaste. A nice blended white wine.

Pillitteri Gewürztraminer Riesling

LCBO#: 349126
Price: $12.95
Made in: Ontario, Canada
By: Pillitteri Estates Winery
Varietal: Riesling and Gewürztraminer

After visiting this winery (and really liking their products), we decided to purchased this wine. A blend of 51% Gewürztraminer and 49% Riesling. This one is more on the sweet side of things, than dry. White grape juice aromas with hints of green apples. Medium-bodied, almost syrupy, but overall pretty wet. Same fruits found in the taste with a touch of honeydew. A subtle dryness appears in the finish which make this white wine very good to enjoy on its own.
