Santa Julia Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

LCBO#: 242370
Price: $13.95
Made in: Mendoza, Argentina
By: Bodega Santa Julia
Year: 2016

This red Argentinian wine which is part of their Reserve series has a bouquet of cherries in the nose. So, pretty sweet with berry notes. Some decent tannins come and balance things back. Not much sweetness in the taste, but hints of berries lingers. Gets better and better at every sip. Quite nice for a higher end wine, but in the affordable price.

Bernard-Massard Brut Cuvée de l’Écusson

LCBO#: 970970
Price: $19.95
Vintages
Made in: Luxembourg

A Luxembourg Sparkling with a creamier head than most. Yeasty nose with mostly apples. Dry enough mouthfeel, but mostly crisp. Again, apples and yeast in the taste, all on the mild side. Light yeast lingers. Hints of bananas. Nothing really offensive, unless you prefer hardly no yeast. Easy to drink overall and presentable. Still, the Andrea Biasiotto Extra Dry Prosecco we just had a week ago, was way better and less expensive, all in the Vintages.

Apples, apples, apples. Yes, this beautiful Italian sparkling is full of apples. Everywhere. And there is nothing wrong with this. Yellow apples in the nose with the pear hints. These apples are also in the taste. A little yeast on the tongue in the finish, but nicely balanced. A decent dryness in the mouthfeel. Crisp and refreshing. All-around well done. Quite like this one… and my cat loved liking the chilled bottle.
