Michelle Brut

Price: $16.85
Made in: Washington, USA
By: Domaine Ste Michelle

This American Sparkling from Washington State gives out a little yeast at first pour, but mostly apple notes. Hints of sourness with the grapes. Balanced taste between the sweetness from the fruit and some nice dryness in the finish. Mild nutty yeast lingers in the aftertaste. Nothing too strong in the flavours, but nothing offensive found here. Apples everywhere again. Very light honey. Gets stronger as it warms up. Goes down very, very nicely, so recommended for your New Year’s party coming up.

Codorniu Seleccion Raventos Rosé

imageLCBO#: 370080
Price: $15.95
Made in: Sant Sadurni D’Anoia, Spain
By: Codorniu S.A.
Varietal: Pinot Noir

This Spanish Sparkling Rosé has strawberry aromas with some yeast and notes of vinegar, cherries and plum. Unfortunately, the taste is not as complete. The strawberries are milder with some light sourness in the middle and the yeast showing in the finish. Hints of nuts linger. The mouth is a little too watery and because of this, the yeast is a little too present. Nothing too offensive, but not one we would buy again (better out there for the price).

Bailly Lapierre Réserve Brut

imageLCBO#: 991562
Price: $19.95
Made in: Burgundy, France
By: Caves De Bailly

This French Sparkling releases a little yeast in the nose at first, but nice fruit comes out. Lots of apples (green, golden delicious) and some pear notes. Some sourness as well which shows up in the middle of the taste. A sweet start and some very mild yeast in the finish. Just a tad of tart in the mouthfeel. Lots of the fruits showing up in the flavours. This is a very well-balanced, fruity Sparkling that goes down very well… and we have nothing negative to say about it. Highly recommended under $20 bubbly.
