Cavas Hill 1887 Brut Cava

Price: $13.20
Made in: Penedès, Spain

This Spanish bubbly starts off with some yeast nose, but is quickly balanced by the strong fruits and hints of sourness. Eventually, the yeast disappears and only the apples and grape juice is left. The taste is also on the apple-side of things. Not too sweet, with some light sourness and a well-blended mild dry finish. This is quite a nice Sparkling for the less expensive pricing and should be a pleaser for all when many bottles have to be poured at a house party. Would definitely buy again.

Château des Charmes Sparkling Rosé 2011

Price: $28.95

Beautiful light pink colour, this Ontario Rosé pulls out aromas of yeast over the watered berries. The taste is a little more on the sweet side, then dry. The mouthfeel is thankfully not as syrupy as expected from the flavours. The mild dry finish does help. It is always nice to try a wine from a vineyards we have visited before. Good, but a little on the pricy side for what it is.

A German Sparkling made of Riesling… nice ! Beautiful nose that is slightly on the sweet-side, but without too much yeast and with a nice dry grape feel. The mouthfeel is well-balanced between starting thick and creamy, but finishing with a good dryness. The taste is like the aromas, blending the sweetness at first with the decent dryness of the grapes. Very mild yeast lingers. Quite nice overall with the well-hidden yeast and the mix of sweetness, without being syrupy, and the dryness.

20 Bees Buzz & Bubbles

Price: $13.95

This Canadian Bubbly starts off with a big yeast bang. Not the best yeast smell we have had. After a while, it clears up, releasing sweet honey notes and then the honeydew finale. The taste is on the sweet side, but not too syrupy, with the help of mild dryness. Eventually, hints of oranges and other fruits appear in the flavours. Yeast lingers. Still, a little too sweet to be a good one. Decent for those not so much into the dry ones.
